Implementation of the new ESC 2026 guidelines: a bridge between science and practice | Ukrainian Medical Journal

The article presents a comprehensive analytical review of key regulatory documents and clinical guidelines presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress (ESC 2026) in Munich. The radical reform of the assessment of levels of evidence and the nomenclature of the management of patients with heart failure is analyzed, which eliminated the intermediate phenotype and introduced the hierarchical pyramid of FMT/AMT/GDIT. Attention is paid to the Fifth Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction (UDMI 5), which abolished the numerical coding of types in favor of a three-component pathophysiological model with a mandatory gender-specific approach and mandatory cardiac imaging. The joint ESC/ERA standard, the STAMP concept for the management of cardiorenal patients, is analyzed in detail, as well as the new time and digital regulations of the first official guidelines on cardiac rehabilitation.
