Determining the features of the progression of post-traumatic gonarthrosis in civilians and military personnel is an urgent task of modern orthopedics from a scientific and practical point of view. We observed 51 patients (45 civilians (control observation group) and 6 military personnel (study group)) with osteoarthritis of the knee joint of grades 3–4, who underwent total knee arthroplasty in the clinic of the State Institution «National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the NAMS of Ukraine» in the period 2024–2025. The conducted studies determined a statistically significant (p<0.01) increase in BMI and professional overload of the knee joint in patients of the study group (military personnel) compared to the indicators of the control (civilian) observation group. This directly influenced the more rapid progression of knee osteoarthritis in this category of patients, which was determined by an increase in cases of rapid progression of gonarthrosis during the examination of patients with terminal stages of post-traumatic gonarthrosis. All this undoubtedly affected the indicators of knee joint function, which was manifested by an increase in VAS indicators, a decrease in indicators of questionnaires IKDS and KOOS. The identified features of the progression of post-traumatic gonarthrosis will contribute to the development of therapeutic and preventive measures to improve the effectiveness of treatment of this complex category of patients in our country.
