Prospects for the development of thyroid surgery in Ukraine: literature review

Purpose — to carry out a theoretical analysis of world and domestic scientific research on topical issues of thyroid surgery and determine the prospects for organizing surgical care for patients with thyroid pathology in Ukraine. Object of study — the organization of surgical care for patients with pathology of the thyroid gland. Subject — factors determining an integrated approach and risks in thyroid surgery, international experience in the functioning of multidisciplinary teams in the surgical treatment of thyroid diseases. Research methods: systems approach and system analysis, bibliosemantic, generalizations. Results. It was found that the need for an integrated approach to the surgical treatment of thyroid pathology is determined by high risks of surgical complications, a high incidence of concomitant diseases, the active development of diagnostic and treatment technologies, the need to maintain a high professional level of endocrinologist surgeons. Implementation of an integrated approach is possible provided that interdisciplinary teams of specialists function, the experience of which is accumulated in world healthcare systems, but needs further improvement, and is only just beginning to be introduced in Ukraine. Conclusions. The prospects for improving the organization of surgical care for patients with thyroid pathology in Ukraine are to use the acquired international experience of an interdisciplinary approach and the development and implementation of its domestic model.
