We analyzed the results of treatment of 3858 patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding during 2011–2015, who had got treatment in the Kiev City Ambulance Hospital. The most numerous group in 2381 (61.72%) patients included ones with bleeding from ulcers of stomach and duodenum. In this group, the conservative treatment and endoscopic hemostasis were effective in 93.87%, and mortality was 1.83%, while among operated patients mortality reached 17.36%. A small number of surgical interventions — 176 (4.56%) — among patients with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding was caused by the effective conservative and endoscopic hemostasis.
