The wall of the bladder is very sensitive to the obstruction. While increasing of the infravesical pressure its circulation is significantly reduced, and chronic obstruction leads to chronic hypoxia, severe metabolic and functional disorders. In realization of metabolic processes while infravesical obstruction in the bladder the lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress play major role as universal mechanism of damage. Malondialdehyde — aldehyde with the formula CH2(CHO)2 — is the marker of these processes. For reliable determination of malondialdehyde in the urine, must be presented a certain number of conditions which are not always presented in elderly and senile patients, who make up 68% of all patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Further studies with use of modern laboratory and instrumental means are needed. Further examination of the role of malondialdehyde in pathophysiological processes in the detrusor due to infravesical obstruction will allow to analyze more deeply prognostic perspectives in post-operative patients.
