Resume

Allergic rhinitis affects not only the patient’s well-being, but also sleep, concentration, academic and work productivity. This is of particular importance for people whose activities require prolonged concentration, quick reaction or work with complex equipment. The article considers three typical clinical situations: a drone operator, a public transport driver and a student during the exam period. It is shown that when choosing antihistamine therapy, it is necessary to take into account not only the effectiveness of symptom control, but also the sedative potential of the drug and its effect on psychomotor functions. Bilastine — a 2nd-generation H₁-antihistamine drug — demonstrated comparable efficacy to cetirizine in allergic rhinitis, a favorable tolerability profile and did not impair driving performance.
