Resume

Allergic diseases remain one of the leading challenges in modern medicine, characterized by high prevalence and a rising trend among both adults and children. A significant portion of allergic conditions is accompanied by pruritus, which substantially impairs patients’ quality of life and requires effective symptomatic control. Histamine plays a key role in the pathogenesis of allergic reactions, which justifies the use of antihistamines as a cornerstone of therapy. This article reviews current approaches to the use of antihistamines, with a focus on dimetindene maleate (Fenistil). Dimetindene is characterized by good tolerability, and a broad spectrum of clinical activity. Clinical studies confirm its efficacy in reducing pruritus, decreasing histamine sensitivity, and providing rapid symptom relief both locally and systemically, supporting its use in therapeutic, pediatric, and dermatological practice. Thus, dimetindene maleate should be regarded as an effective antihistamine with proven clinical efficacy, occupying an important place in the comprehensive management of allergic diseases and remaining relevant in 21st-century clinical practice.
