An analysis of the literature on the problems of surgical treatment of inguinal hernias indicates the absence of a single doctrine in the choice of surgery, the contradiction of advantages and disadvantages in the modern surgical treatment of inguinal hernias. A great prospect in improving treatment outcomes is given to the creation of specialized herniation centers in which certified herniological surgeons work. According to the literature, the main method of treating inguinal hernias remains Liechtenstein surgery. Hernioplasty using laparoscopic techniques is a promising alternative to traditional methods of treating inguinal hernias, but it should be used in specialized laparoscopic centers, provided that the cost of surgery is significantly reduced. With the development of endovideosurgery, transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) and total extraperitoneal (TEР) plastics have come to the leading positions. The laparoscopic method of inguinal hernia repair has a number of advantages, such as a lower frequency of postoperative complications, less pronounced postoperative pain, and a reduction in terms hospitalization, reducing the cost of treatment of the patient and the duration of his disability.
