Hypomagnesemia and hypokalemia are recognized as reliable predictors of stroke and acute myocardial infarction, which is accompanied by an increase in all-cause mortality. Increasing magnesium and potassium intake and achieving target levels of potassium (>4.0 mmol/l) and magnesium (>0.84 mmol/l) can minimize the risk of stroke, acute myocardial infarction, deaths, and atrial fibrillation. Early detection and correction of potassium and magnesium imbalances can contribute to the rapid recovery of patients with acute myocardial infarction and stroke, improve treatment outcomes and restore the functional status of patients. The effectiveness of oral potassium intake is considered equivalent to intravenous administration of solutions of this electrolyte. Panangin Forte is a combined preparation of magnesium asparaginate and potassium asparaginate used to correct hypomagnesemia and hypokalemia. It is advisable to take potassium-magnesium-containing preparations simultaneously with periodic careful monitoring of the levels of these electrolytes. Monitoring magnesium and potassium levels can help physicians identify patients at high risk of recurrent stroke and acute myocardial infarction and determine the population for prescribing magnesium and potassium-containing drugs.
