Modern approaches in treatment of arterial hypertension: focus on beta-blockers and combinations of them

The review is depicted to the discussion of the place and role of beta-blockers and combinations of antihypertensive drugs based on them, in treatment of patients with arterial hypertension (AH). Comparison of clinical recommendations of the most authoritative medical associations with a high level of reputation concerning the initial choice of antihypertensive medications and their combinations is presented. The data of the most well-known meta-analyzes concerning the problem of comparing the efficacy and safety of beta-blockers and combinations based on them in treatment of patients with AH of different ages and gender, taking into account the comorbid background and the magnitude of cardiovascular risk are discussed. The article gives information on the advantages of the fixed combination (drug Tonorma®) in treatment of AH.
