Management of patients with central post-stroke pain: focus on pregabalin

Chronic pain is a common problem faced by a large part of the
world’s population. According to the different data, from 8% to 60% of
people in their lifetime met the criteria for its diagnosis. Neuropathic pain
is a particular case of chronic pain, which is not associated with direct reaction
of the organism to a physical stimulus, but with damage of the nervous
system. Patients with neuropathic pain require treatment that differs from
it for other types of pain. The article provides data on the neuropathic pain
diagnostic and therapeutic aspects with an emphasis on pharmacotherapy
and pregabalin particularly.
