Modern approaches to combined therapy of arterial hypertension

Resume

The review is focused on the optimal choice of combinations of antihypertensive drugs in patients with arterial hypertension. Questions of the relationship between cardiovascular risk, age and severity of arterial hypertension are discussed. The results of the most important randomized trials concerning the evaluation of the effecacy of various combinations of antihypertensive drugs are presented. The advantages of combined treatment of arterial hypertension based on angiotensin II receptor antagonists, including antihypertensive efficacy, organoprotective properties, safety and tolerability are described.
